In the winter of 1922, baby Moe is abandoned at the Ashimoi railroad station. She bounces between her foster parents and an orphanage. As she come of age she develops a crush on Yusuke, the illegitimate son of a mine owner. Her adventures take her to Tokyo. She gets married. Her husband dies at war. She returns to Ashimoi with her son in search of her real her mother and to finally marry Yusuke, only to find that’s he’s passed on. Now 60, she reflects on her life as she sits in the railway station where it all began.
