It is 1964, the year of the Tokyo Olympics. Mineko, a 17-year-old girl, lives on a farm in Ibaraki Prefecture with her mother, grandfather, and two younger siblings. To make ends meet, her father had no choice but to leave home and find better work in Tokyo. That year, the family was waiting for his return home for New Years, but then, without warning, Mineko’s father goes missing. Determined to find him, Mineko travels to Tokyo with two childhood friends. They start working at a small factory and slowly adjust to their new lives in the unfamiliar city. But after the Olympics, businesses are hit hard by the recession and the factory shuts down. Devastated and at a loss, Mineko finds comfort at her father’s favorite restaurant. Through a series of new encounters and bitter farewells, Mineko matures as a young woman. Will she be able to find her father?
